I’m not a crafty girl. I love to knit and take pictures and dance and laugh and sing (really off-key) but I’m not crafty. I leave that to the experts. You know who you are. :)
However, today was going to be different. My friend Nadine and her lovely daughter Beah were coming over today so we could plow through April’s Action Pack. We had grand plans; dragon flies, seed bombs, beaded jar lanterns. I was excited to be in the company of a crafter extraordinaire. They arrived…and we got right to it.
First up – dragonflies.
Lots of beads. Wire. Creativity. This was all that was required of me. “I can muster that, ” I thought to myself.
These were easy and lots of fun. I of course had to help (read…do it mostly myself) Isaac with his (because he was off chasing Daddy or something like that…but he did pick his beads) but he really like the finished product. And now they hand in our living room window. They look so lovely when the sun shines in and through the beads. LOVE!
Next we ate cake. I had made the lime and lavender cake from the Action Pack magazine. If you only by the magazine for this recipe…it’ll be worth it, I promise. SOOO yummy. We also make the lime and lavender lemonade. Not too sweet and very refreshing.
Then our knitting kind of made its way out. :) The two of us always have knitting in our hands. I was equally impressed and shocked when the knitting went back into our baskets so we could sow some seeds. Nadine was quite the worker bee, pumping out paper pots so that we could get to our planting. We sowed calendula and chamomile and borage and foxglove and dill and cilantro and poppies and basil and verbena and bergamot and…oh I can’t remember the rest. It was awesome though. So much goodness going into our gardens this year. Can hardly wait.
And then…it was 4:30. Where does the time go? No seed bombs, not beaded jar lanterns. But lots of sown seeds to take home. And so while the crafting we did today consisted of very little crafty-crafting, I choose to think of gardening as a crafty endeavour. I mean come on, your growing food…that’s crafty. :)
I hope are all enjoying your weekend.
